hey guys,
I havent really been active on here for a little while for a number of reasons, school just started and my classes are kickin my butt, have had homework out the wazoo, i do marching band which takes up a HUGE amount of my time, and the little free time that i have had lately has been put toward mountain biking. Well i really have mixed emotions right now. On one hand i just got an amazing new(to me) mountain bike... on the other hand iv decided that im taking an extended break(im sure ill get back into it some day) from paintball. Iv found that for me paintball just isnt worth it anymore. I rarely get to play cause i dont have a car. Its a ton of money. I have a ton of money in gear alone plus the extra 60-100 bucks each time i go play. I just dont have time for it. Also being that i pay for my own gear in any sport i play theres just no way i can finance paintball and mountain biking, and save up for a car, and pay for the gas for a car, and pay for the insurence on a car. Also im currently indebted to my mom because she spotted me the money for this new bike and with the money i get from selling my gear along with my old bike ill be able to pay her off, buy upgrades for this new bike, and probably have a little left over to put toward my car fund. Another kicker was that recently my mom decided shed try mountain bike(im convenced shed try anything) and has really taken a liking to it. Now im not saying im not going to miss paintball cause i sure as hell am but mountain biking just seems like the most worthwhile route right now(tho all my friends are calling me an idiot cause i just got offered a spot on a really good team and i turned it down) Now onto the positive stuff. This bike was listed on craigslist for 800 but i talked the guy down to 700. Its a 2001 Santa Cruz Bullit (large frame). It needs a little work but for 700(or even 800) it was a great deal. Its in the shop having the hydraulics bled so all i have right now are crappy cell phone pics. once i get it back ill post up some better pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ps. I plan on sticking around the forum. You guys are where my darkside addiction began so u can get rid of me that easily.

Congrats on the bike! I understand the need for a car over paintball, but at least you admit that you'll be back!

Isn't there also something about a 29 front and 26 back?
(I'm trying to sound intelligent here)

I like the 29's better then the 26's, it gives you alittle more clearance, and it owns on hills because you cover more ground with less rotations. Only downside is it is a bit harder to make sharp turns lol.
Tigar, lol. Trek does in fact make a bike like that called a, Trek 69er.

I have a friend with a 29er. Im gonna have to give it a try. with 6 (soon to be 7 or 8) inches of suspension on the Bullit the clearance is already massive but I think with the bigger wheels youd be able to maintain momentum alot better.
tigar- well your doing better than me. I had no clue about the 69er until now. It kinda looks like those old bikes with the really bigger front wheel. lol
