I personally dont see a need for it, but maybe it is a player for people with large hands who need the extra clearance?
Now that I think about it after viewing the website, I rarely have my whole hand around the grip when firing. I'm pretty much shouldering the marker and supporting it via the foregrip and two fingering the trigger.

Those are my thoughts as well.

If you want a longer setup, there is a regulator extender that you can screw into the ASA (LINK) or the Thread Saver On/Off will also add an inch or 2 to the total length (LINK).

This would probably be better for Mini users than AXE users. The area on the grip is just a tad larger but more conforming than the Minis. This allows most people to have a good grip on the AXE than one would with the Mini. Though, I'm very much like Kanuck. My right hand barely touches my AXE.
