I know, I know, I said it was my dream gun. I do love the feel of it, especially the trigger, and it shoots wonderfully. The weight doesn't bother me at all and the dual mech/elec action has saved me a few times on the field.
But I've had more than a few problems with it this year. The two biggest problems have been a mech trigger that worked too well and an electric mode that didn't work at all. Sometimes, I haven't found out why, it gets an erratic hyperactive mechanical trigger bounce that causes the bolt to fire as fast as physically possible, leading to a lot of Level X chuffs, wasted air, and overall annoyance. I've also had problems that I expect are from double-feeding, though the detents aren't overly worn. Other times it's like the HES isn't getting tripped in e-mode so it won't fire at all. I've done everything I've known to do and even sent it off to Tunaman himself for a tune-up. Even if it's only every third game, I can't afford to have it happen at all on the field. So I'm considering getting rid of it and moving on to something else. I've played a few times with a teammate's G3 and was more than impressed with it. It's nice that it's so light, but more so it felt right in my hands and it shoots well for me. The better gas efficiency is also becoming a bigger factor to me as I'm playing in bigger scenario games lately. Every time I used it, and every game my teammates have used them, I haven't had a single problem. Whether it was the chilly forests of northern Utah or the sandy infernos of Arizona and Nevada, they just worked. I've been impressed with DP this year, in their approach to making a good, solid gun without jacking up the price. So, I'm at a bit of a conundrum here. I still like the idea of having a Mag. The weight and balance just feel good to me. And I won't deny there's a certain flair to being the only one on the field with one. So what do I do here? I can sell the E-Mag lowers and that would be enough to get an upgraded G3 and a normal Intelliframe to turn the E-Mag into a basic RT Mag. But the REV-i has really been pulling at me, and selling off the E-Mag would about cover the cost of one. Or so I just stick it out, try to fix the E-Mag some more? |

I say keep the E-mag and save your pennies this winter for the Rev-i. After shooting your E-mag I instantly fell in love with it and if it was mine I would never consider getting rid of it. If my better half didn't feel I already have too many guns I'd say sell it to me, but since I can't have it, I'm saying keep it and I'm sure you'll figure out how to fix it sooner or later.

Stick it out, fix it, and then sell it if you want to? That way you dont lose as much money on the selling of it...

If I can sort out the problems, I'd love to keep it. But I can't justify having that much money hanging on the wall if I don't use it. I'm not sentimental on gear, I sell off what I don't use. If I can sell off my A-5, I can probably afford to keep the A-5 and get my REV-i.

Here is a question: Do you see the re-sell value going up or down if you hold onto it and trying to fix it? (even if it doesnt get fixed)

Mags hold their value very well. And since E-Mags aren't made any more, they've held pretty even for the past few years.

Do you have a backup gun that works well?
If you do, i see no harm done by holding onto it and trying to fix it then.... |

Well, all worries about getting a REV-i have vanished today. My teammate committed grand theft and picked up a lightly used REV-i for only $400 and I was able to use it today. I like the feel of it and the OLED board is great. The thing is very quiet, not much louder than a MacDev. The trigger stroke isn't as long as my E-Mag, but it is longer than most other electros I've tried. And with the magnetic trigger I can easily make it stiffer to my liking. Now if I can just find my own sweet deal on one.
