I just received my dust black mini today. It also shipped with 1 48/3000 and 1 68 4500 tank, a halo too hopper and invert avatar mask/goggles.
I am pretty excited to find that almost everything that i ordered almost showed up. They have my mask on back order... I havent shot a paintball marker since 99 and that was my Co2 filled spyder compact. Im hoping i didnt bite off more than i can chew with getting the mini. One downside i have already found is the location of where i live. There isnt anywhere in a 30 mile radius where i can fill up my tanks.. I drove around all day stopping at every "air" related place i could think. I finally found a welding shop that would do it if I had the adapter. I feel retarded not knowing what i am looking for. The only paintball "store" around only provides Co2. Tomorrow i am going to head up north and have them filled at a scuba shop? WTH. Hopefully i can get some shots off before the weekend is over. Does anyone have any advice for a new HPA tank user? |

Welcome to the OG.
First, any and all questions you have can be found on the OG with a few minutes in the Search bar. Second, make sure to pick up a New Designz Thread Saver On/Off. They are basically an ON/OFF adapter to make gassing and degassing a thousand times easier. Check with your local fire department, they MAY be able to help you with fills. Ive heard of people doing this so maybe worth a shot. NEVER PUT ANY OIL OR DIRT OR ANYTHING INTO THE FILL NIPPLE OF YOUR HPA TANK!!! Thats the most important rule. Just take care of the tank and it will take care of you. Other than the on/off, a new barrel and custom grips are all ya really need. Grips I can help with if you look at my Sig. Barrel, its up to you but keep an eye on the threads that go around on here. The Mini is a very great gun and like the HPA tank, if you care for it, it cares for you. Again, welcome. ~DJ

If you need to get the adapter for the tanks, its not an expensive piece. Super easy to use as well. Our team has a few of them so we can take scuba tanks to outlaw games. Ebay has a ton of them.
Welcome to the family. Like Hoot said, the search bar is your friend. Never be afraid to toss out a question though. We're all happy to help.

You could invest in a scuba tank if there is a scuba shop somewhat close.. then you get it filled, and you can get an adapter to fill your tank off of the scuba tank.
also, barrel, on on/off sounds good.. if you have any tech questions, feel free to ask

So at the scuba shop, i can pick up a "Filling Adaptor"? I dont want to have to drive an hour round trip to fill 2 tanks. when i go to the fire dept, do i ask if they can fill my high pressure air tank? Or is it Nitrogen?

You'll ask for HPA. And I doubt the dive shop will have the adapter to fill your paintball air tanks. The adapter we're referring to threads into the scuba tank and has the adapter for you to attach your HPA tanks to. If you are that far from anywhere that can fill your tanks, its probably a good idea, as Xaboo said, to invest in a 3000psi scuba tank. They are not terribly expensive, and they will provide you with a decent amount of fills. And its not very expensive to have your scuba tanks filled either.
EDIT: This is what you're looking for.

I just got off the phone with the scuba shop and he informed me that the fiber 68/4500 tank can never be filled in the US. I wont find ANYWHERE to fill it and that i was ripped off. He said i would be better off getting aluminum tanks instead. I am pissed off. Im thinking about sending it all back. All of it.

Ignore him. He has no clue what he is talking about. I have TWO of that same tank, and get them filled a couple hundred times per year. He thinks you are talking about a scuba tank, not a paintball tank. You did not get ripped off, he is just not an informed employee. An aluminum tank is not bad, but it is noticeably heavier than your fiber tank that you picked up. Let me ask you this. Does your tank have a sticker on the side of it with the letters DOT on it? The government approves your tank for use.

Melonhead is right, I bet the guy thinks you're talking about a scuba tank. The guy's misinformed and you're ok. You just need to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about or a field/shop owner that provides HPA.

It frustrating not having knowledgable paintball users around. The paintball shop around here is mostly a hunting store and they all look at you like you are from another planet.
It seems like i am going to need to invest in a scuba tank and filling adapter in the near future. For now i just want to shoot my mini! I am heading to a shop about 40 miles from here now... Is there anything else i should get while i am up there? Ill see if they have the On/Off adapter. |
