Default Getting a V1 mini. Have a couple of Q's

Getting a V1 Mini for a fairly cheap price ths Friday. Seeing as how V1's had a fair share of issues, should I proactively change parts in the V1? The current owner says it works great, but still. What should I change or upgrade?

Also, on the cosmetic side, I've seen a few Minis with wood grips. Where can I get wood grips for the Mini? Is there someone on the forums that makes them or is there a company that makes them?

From what I've been reading, most of the problems stem from the poppit, and on certain batches, the lower air tube in the grip. The poppit is a cheap fix and easy to change out. I'd say, if it's not broke, don't worry about actually changing out anything till they actually go bad, but maybe pickup some spare parts for if it does go bad.

I'm curious as to what kind of deal you are getting on your mini?

I think Redman is spot on with his recommendations. I think that Rifle makes wood grips but I don't know if they fit the Mini as far as the screw holes go.

I would advise getting a spare parts kit... But then again, on the other hand, i have a v1 mini as well and havent had a problem, other than my own stupidity losing a screw

A fellow local pump player is selling me his V1 Mini for $200. Normal secondary market price you'll say, but it comes with the parts kit, the black aluminum carrying case, the stock 12 inch barrel, a 2-piece 14 inch barrel (looks like an Empire?) and a 68/3000 steelie tank.

A few pictures:

Not the deal of the century, but a more than fair price IMO

Not a bad deal at all, just snagged a titanium blue one with 48/3000 steel on craigslist for 180. I've seen just that case go for 50-60 alone on eBay.

Just the gouge on the back top is enough for me to say not it.

That gouge in the back of the body should knock it down from 200 considerably. Wheel and deal with him.

That's no gouge, it's a sticker. Here's another pic that the seller sent me, you can clearly see the outlines of it:

Glad to hear that it ie not a gouge. Sounds like the price is spot on.
