Default Smart Parts SP1 Issues

My SP1 recently decided to spring a leak. It sounds like it's leaking inside the breach. I've done everything I know how to do, including taking it apart piece for piece and giving it all fresh lube (TechT Gun Sav), giving it all new O-rings, and replacing the battery. Still it leaks. If anyone knows anything more than I do about Smart Parts guns please post up ideas and suggestions. It's the same internals as an Ion, Vibe, or EOS, so I'm sure there's someone who has experience with these markers. Thanks!

I'd say try on TechPB or something more dedicated to more markers. Being an Invert forum, while some of us may know a lot about other markers, you may get better results/answers from a forum dedicated to the SP1/Smart Parts.

Thanks for the directions Hoot, I'm not familiar with that site, but we'll see what comes up. I just figured with the ocean of Invert Knowledge on this site, someone might just know a thing or two about Smart Parts guns as well.

Could it be the QEV? My Blackheart SP-1 came to me brand new with a leaking problem. I sent it back to Smart Parts to be fixed.

Unfortunately I'm not sure what state Smart Parts is currently in, but if you can't find the answers your looking for online, you could always try calling Smart Parts directly.

I stripped it down to the main tube and plugged air into it to see if I could locate the leak easier with all the shell and grip removed, it's something not sealing right, as it's not a loose air line or bad O-ring. You might be onto something. Guess I'll try and call Smart Parts tomorrow and see if they're even answering their phones right now. Thanks!

Alright, some people are missing the fact I'm an Ion guru, same as Druid but I can help ya out mate.

As for Smart Parts, nearly zero customer service, warranty and repairs department are shut down so no acceptance at this point. I've confirmed this with my sources I regularly get my Smart Parts pieces from to repair many of the Ions that I have laying around.

Seems like your problem is either an improperly lubed bolt or a missing o-ring. The air is coming out of the bolt right? If so, that means that the bolt is not being pushed back all the way and chances are, there may be something blocking it. If not, it's a probability that it's the back cap that is not sealed correctly. Dry o-rings will cause air leaks on the Ion XEs and SP1s.

You're welcome to take on my help to get your SP1 back up working again. I've dealt with this problem before on a couple of my Ion XEs and my one SP1 and fixed all three but each had a slightly different effect with the same problem.

I wish I could give it to you to look at then. It's not an issue of dry or bad O-rings. The back cap is on tight, I'm thinking I'm gonna put the back cap in boiling water, maybe there's something down in that little hole that the bolt slides into and got stuck on some lube or something? I'll deop it in some boiling water and melt all the grease off it and see if any dirt debree doesn't come off it as well, dry it off really good and try again. Thanks Ichikisu, I'll let you know what happens. It's just weird cuz I've never had a gun have a problem before that I couldn't figure out how to fix rather quickly and easily. I'm a pro with Tippmann's, I can take my Mini apart piece for piece in my sleep. My SP1 I don't know much about though, I can strip it and put it back together just fine, but I've never had any issue with it before.

I know what you mean.

Also, might want to check and see if there is an o-ring on the banjos. There should be a small black oring that goes around the screw. I found out that my first SP1 which was uses had a missing oring. If that is the case, I can send a couple at no charge for ya since I got a huge pile of them.
