It could help to do it again, or use the contact cleaner that Invictus suggested. It seems more suited to the job at hand. If you had stuff draining out of your power button, chances are there is quite a bit in there. You can take apart the power button by using a razor to pry off the top. I cannot guarantee it will go back together correctly if you take it apart. We tried with my other board and it was unsuccessful.

  • I used a modelling knife to cut the tops off the 4 black plastic 'lugs' that hold the metal cover back on.
  • Flicked the cover off.
  • Luckily it semmed to 'pop' back on.
  • Even if it doesnt you could (VERY CAREFULLY) use some superglue/expoy resin glue to keep it back in place as long as you get the plate to locate on the 4 lugs (which is easier once the tops are cut off as originally they are 'splayed' out to hold the plate on)

Thanks for the heads up Invictus. I had thought about the qtip potentially being a problem as well, but I figured since I was just using it to transfer the alcohol from the source to the button instead of actually swabbing it, that it should be ok. But the contact cleaner works better eh? Does it come in a convenient travel size? Cuz I don't think my wife will let me steal her rubbing alcohol to put with my paintball stuff.
I have no clue on the can size as we buy the super jumbo industrial size of it for work. I'm sure you can find it in all kinds of sizes though.
