I have been having issues with two of the Optimus 1.2 control boards. The power buttons on each one of them have been acting up. This evening a team mate and myself decided we needed to dissect one of the power buttons and see what the underlying issue was. We found massive corrosion between the two contact pieces inside the button. Here is how I resolved this issue:
![]() ![]() ![]() I used the Q-tip to soak the power button and make sure the rubbing alcohol got down inside the button. I then proceeded to push the button rapidly for a while, then repeated the process two more times. Depending on the amount of corrosion or gunk inside your power button, you may need to work the alcohol in there a little longer. I also used the Q-tip and alcohol to give the rest of the board a quick once over, just to prevent any corrosion that may have been starting elsewhere. Before I did this, I would have to fidget with the power button for anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes to get it to turn on. Now its the first click every time. The board functions as it would brand new. |

Yeah actually it might. Try cleaning the area around the power button as well.

Oh great Midas Melonhead...does the alcohol dissolve the junk or do you have to empty the junk that's now floating inside your power button?

Nothing drained out of my power button, so I'm assuming it just dissolved it then the alcohol evaporated. When we looked at the inside of the other power button, it was just a really light coating of corrosion inside there.

Wonder if 90% alcohol would work better?
