Default Need some speedball tips

Well i got talked into being the third man for a 3 man tournament this weekend and i have never even played speed ball before lol.

Anyone who has played in a tournament have any advice for me on and off the field? Any difference in rules i should be aware of from your normal woods ball and big games to a three man tourney? Heck i dont even know what i should bring besides gear and some water or what to carry on the field besides paint and a marker.

I have been cruising youtube for anything useful and links to anything i can watch or read would be appreciated also.

Thanks and wish me luck

Speedball is also on my list of things to try. I'm sure you can find some good tip videos on the TechPB Youtube channel. Things like how to play snake and how to snapshoot, etc.

Since the games are usually short I would leave the water with your gear to keep your weight light.
Wear cleats and not combat boots.
Have a speedfeed on your hopper.
Work on your sprinting by doing 50 yard dashes as fast as you can followed by 40 yard, 30 yard, 20 yard with little down time in between.
Practice snapshooting with your right and left hands. Remember to keep your knees in and tilt your hopper inwards so they don't stick out.
As you're snap shooting try to plan your next moves so you're not making friends with the bunker. aka be aggressive.
Most importantly, communicate with your teammates. Know the names of the bunker shapes and their positions on the field. This is the key to winning.

OK, I've really never played so take this for whatever it's worth.

Dont be afraid to move up... ive never done any tournament play, but ive played speedball and you need to move up, and take as many vantage points as possible. Know the field, and know the angles of it.

Also to add to snap shooting choose different spots to pop out of and another way to do it is to use your sides and abs to lean just your body above your waist. Keep your hopper in front of your mask so you dont make a bigger profile and have the barrel and hopper/mask out only. Now go get a mirror to hang on a door and practice with it.

Your first time playing speedball is going to be Extremely fast and furious. It takes on a whole new level. If you have never stepped foot on a airball field be prepared for shooting lanes and breakouts. It is going to be a learning experience and you will most likely get shot out a good bit. It takes time to learn snap shooting from a bunker and working the field, but hopefully you catch on fast and get a steep learning curve.

It is a blast and addicting....you may not go back to woodsball.....Take plenty of paint on the field....the worst thing is walking off because you ran out of paint after the match.

Welcome to the forum Evilomenshooter. What kind of setup do you run with on the speedball field?

My old setup was a dark timmy or FF shocker, Halo B with rip drive and aftermarket board, 68/4500 and a 5 pod belt......

My new setup is a DM4/Dark timmy, Halo B and 45/4500......But you can run a speedball field with any marker you want....it is all down to snap shooting and getting comfortable with shooting lanes and when and where to come out of a bunker.

The more that you play the better you get because you learn what you did wrong and correct it next time....

The most important thing that most have missed, have fun! It's your 1st tournament, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Go out play hard and do your best to enjoy the new experience. I see too many people walk off pissed because they did not do well their 1st time out.
