Default How to: Navigate APE Board menus

The APE board programming instructions are not easy to read so I'm going to attempt to explain it as simply as I can. Before you begin, you must pull out your APE User Guide and remove your Mini’s battery door so you can see the APE Board’s LED’s.

To scroll through the menu options you pull and release the trigger. Sometimes the power button is used to “select” and other times you hold the trigger to “select”.

The most popular options can be found in either the Firing Mode or Marker Control menus and below is the path to get there.
Startup Options -> Programming Mode -> Profiles -> Programming Menu -> Firing Mode Setpoints or Marker Control Setpoints

Let’s begin by following these 14 easy steps!
1. Enter the Startup Options menu by holding the trigger, push on/off button 1x, and then releasing the trigger.

2. The external light (above power button) should now be blinking Red which means you are at the “Programming Mode” option.

3. Push the Power Button 1x to select this “Programming Mode” and the external light will switch to a solid white color.

4. You are now in the Profiles section. There are 5 profiles you can scroll through but “Default” is the one you’ll want and is represented by this solid white light, so press the Power Button 1x to select this profile. The external light will turn off and now’s a good time to put your Mini down.

5. Pick up your APE manual and find the section with these words at the top of the page: “Programming Tutorial for the Rampage Board”. The purple, green, yellow, and red boxes represent the 4 LED’s on your APE board. Under each Firing Mode, Marker Control, Rampage 1, and Rampage 2 box is a table listing the options within.

6. If you have found the option you want to change, found which LED color combination represents this option, found which menu it’s listed in, and which LED color represents this menu then pick back up your Mini and turn your attention to the 4 LED lights on the APE board.

7. The Red LED on your APE board will be on which means you are in the Firing Mode menu. If this is the menu you want to enter, pull and hold the trigger until the Red LED turns off and then release the trigger. Otherwise, pull and release the trigger until you see the color you want to select.

8. The Red LED will be back on but now it represents the top option in the table printed in your APE manual. If this is the option you want to change, pull and hold the trigger until the Red LED turns off and then release the trigger. Otherwise, pull and release the trigger until you see the color combination representing the option you want to select.

9. After you have selected an option, the external light (above power button) will flash its current value.

10. To change the value, pull and hold the trigger until the LED(s) turns off and then release the trigger.

11. Enter the new value by squeezing the trigger the corresponding number of times. The external light (above power button) will flash each time you pull the trigger showing that the trigger pull has been registered.

12. Press the Power button 1x to save the new value.

13. The external light will blink with the new setting.

14. Press and hold the power button until the marker turns off to save your new setting.

I just hope it makes it easier to make the changes you want to make.

Hey APE! You should include a infrared remote control with LCD screen that allows us to program our APE boards like we used to with the VCR! Press the Dwell button and see graphically where the current value is in relation to the minimum and maximum values.

That's it. I'm calling my Patent attorney cousin.
